OM Home's 1st Annual Community Shred!

Join OM Home in their fight to stop clutter at their first annual shredding event.

If you have any ancient bills, bank statements or even a steamy letter or two from your old flame lying around, you're a prime candidate for this oh so cathartic Spring shredding event.

Sponsored by OM Home, this day of de-cluttering is completely FREE. Yes, it's true. We hate clutter so much that, this entire event is on us. So, grab that box, bag, basket or file of TO BE SHREDDED and meet us on March 21st at Westwood Shopping Center in Bethesda anytime between 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Westwood Shopping Center, also known as "Westbard", is located between Ridgefield Drive and Massachusetts Avenue on Westbard Avenue)

WHY Are We Doing This And WHY Should YOU Shred?

1. Shredding is the only prudent method of ensuring that your private and confidential information is completely destroyed.

2. Identity thieves search dumpsters and other places where your documents may end up after you throw them out, for anything they deem valuable. In 1988 the US Supreme Court ruled that, "Dumpster Diving" as it is called, is LEGAL. Exceptions are when dumpsters are locked, are inside gates, or posted no trespassing. Legal or not, dumpster diving is a major source of information gained by identity thieves and others that wish to use your information to steal your identity or commit fraud.

3. Last, but certainly not least, Shredding is good for the environment. Did you know recycling one ton of shredded paper can SAVE up to 17 mature trees? And producing a ton of recycled paper uses 60% LESS energy, and 60% LESS water than non-recycled paper? Or, did you know, that producing a ton of recycled paper REDUCES AIR POLLUTION 70% compared to non-recycled paper?

HOW Will My Documents Be Shredded At This Event?

Our partner, Secured Shred, will be onsite with a new, state-of-the-art mobile document destruction vehicle that employs a "no-touch" system whereby your documents go straight from the boxes or bags to their Mobile Shredding Unit. This is the ultimate in onsite, secure, document destruction. You will be able to witness the entire process to ensure compliance via the closed circuit video monitor outside of the truck. Secure Shred will haul away and recycle all of the shredded material.
